An indie comic that defied 200 rejections is now teaming up with a new, creator-focused distribution company. Ximphonic Versus: Nocturnes Romance, created by Scotlynd Xing Xin-Bedford, has joined the roster of Philbo Distribution, a new player in the comics industry designed to support independent publishers.

A Journey of Resilience:

Ximphonic Versus is not your typical success story. The dark fantasy comic, described as a "tragic, dark, and beautiful opera" with influences ranging from Final Fantasy to Bram Stoker's Dracula, was rejected by publishers and distributors a staggering 200 times. Instead of giving up, Xing self-published the series through his own company, Phantom Blade Productions. This gamble paid off, and the series has since sold thousands of physical copies without crowdfunding, attracting praise from industry giants like Konami, Santa Monica Studio and HBO. The IP has also been optioned for an anime TV series and has a line of action figures in the works.

Philbo's Creator-First Mission:

Philbo Distribution is a new company founded by Phillip Russertt, a creator himself. He started the company to fill a void in the comic book distribution landscape, providing an economically viable option for independent creators. Philbo's mission is to showcase and solicit new and interesting stories to retail outlets across North America through a monthly digital catalog. By focusing on smaller publishers and creators, Philbo aims to help them overcome the financial barriers often associated with self-distribution. The company will also distribute other merchandise, like action figures, making it a comprehensive partner for indie creators.

A Perfect Partnership:

The collaboration between Ximphonic Versus and Philbo Distribution is a natural fit. Ximphonic Versus, a project born from the creator's dedication and resilience, aligns perfectly with Philbo's mission to empower independent voices. This partnership will provide Ximphonic Versus with expanded reach and exposure to a wider network of comic shops and retailers, helping it continue its journey from being once an underdog to now a success story and multimedia phenomenon. It's an inspiring development that showcases how creators, with the right support, can find a path to success even after facing immense rejection.
